Wakefield Local Offer

Health - CAMHS - Primary Intervention Team

The Primary Intervention Team provides a main point of access to Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in Wakefield through a Single Point of Access (SPA).

Referrals can be made by parents, carers, young people, and professionals, and are reviewed to identify the most appropriate support.

How the service supports

The SPA team offers advice, guidance, and signposting for those waiting for support from CAMHS services.

They also provide a range of support options designed to build knowledge and skills around emotional wellbeing, including:

  • Carer information sessions
  • Group work programmes
  • "2 plus 1" sessions, which offer individual assessment and targeted support

These approaches aim to support young people experiencing emotional wellbeing difficulties, as well as those who care for them.
