Health - CAMHS - Future in Mind Mental Health Support Team (MHST)

The Future in Mind Mental Health Support Team (MHST) focuses on early intervention and prevention to support the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people.

The team works closely with education settings and contributes to the Wakefield Families Together (WFT) Team Around the School (TAS) approach. 

How the service supports

The MHST provides support through both targeted and wider school-based approaches.

Targeted support includes:

  • Evidence-based interventions for children and young people
  • Individual and group support sessions
  • Support for parents and carers

Wider support includes:

  • Assemblies and classroom-based activities
  • Information sessions for parents and carers
  • Advice and consultation for education staff

Workforce development

The team also provides training for professionals working with children and young people across Wakefield. 

Training covers a range of mental health and wellbeing topics including:

  • Anxiety
  • Low mood
  • Attachment
  • Self-harm
  • Sleep
