Education - EPS - Education Therapy Team (ETT)
The Education Therapy Team (ETT) is part of the Educational Psychology Service in Wakefield. The team supports children and young people across the district who are receiving suspensions or are at risk of permanent exclusion from mainstream education.The team uses specialist knowledge to support vulnerable children and young people within school settings.
How the team supports
ETT provides a range of support to children, families, and schools, including:
- Individual therapeutic support for children and young people in school
- Advice and guidance for parents, carers, and education staff
- Support to strengthen relationships between children, families, and schools
- Signposting to specialist services for additional help
- Helping school staff better understand social and emotional needs
- Working with other professionals during the intervention period, where appropriate
The approach is supportive and non-judgemental, focusing on improving outcomes and engagement in education.
Accessing the service
Primary and Secondary school Headteachers can request involvement from the Education Therapy Team by completing a ‘Request for Support’ form.

Completed requests should be submitted to the Inclusion Panels for their local cluster area, where appropriate support will be considered.
