Reasonable Adjustments
Schools have a duty under the Equality Act 2010 to make reasonable adjustments for disabled pupils.
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) provides guidance for schools through its Technical Guidance for Schools in England, which explains these duties and how they can be put into practice.
Parents and carers can also find information about disability rights in education on GOV.UK and through the SEND Code of Practice.
Reasonable adjustments are changes that are made for a person with special educational needs and or disabilities. These changes help remove or reduce barriers for people so that they are not disadvantaged, compared to others.

What to do if reasonable adjustments are not in place
In the first instance, discuss your concerns with your child or young person's education setting. You may wish to speak to the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to explain your concerns.
If the issues are not resolved, ask the setting for a copy of their SEND Policy which will explain the support that is available.
If your child or young person has an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) you can also contact your Special Educational Needs Assessment and Review Team (SENART) case officer for advice and support.
If you are still unhappy you should follow the education setting's complaints procedure. Information about how to make a complaint can usually be found on the setting's website.
