SEND Reforms: Experts at Hand
We would like to invite you to a parent and carer workshop to learn more about the national SEND reforms and Wakefield's development of the Experts at Hand model.
The Experts at Hand approach aims to strengthen access to specialist advice, training and support in mainstream settings - helping children and young people to get the right support at the right time.
The workshops are your chance to shape how we deliver support in Wakefield.

Time: 10:00 - 11:30
12:00 - 1:30
2:00 - 2:30
You only need to attend one session - each one will cover the same things.
Venue: Normanton Town Hall, High Street, Normanton, WF6 2DZ
The sessions will include:
- An overview of the national SEND reforms
- An introduction to Wakefield's emerging Experts at Hand model
- A presentation from Jayne Elliott, Service Manager for Inclusion Services, and Kate Lyell, Service Manager for SEND Transformation
- Opportunities for discussion and feedback
- Small group discussions focused on key questions that will help shape the future development of SEND support across Wakefield
We are particularly keen to hear:
- How should specialist services work alongside schools and families?
- What would good communication and partnership working look like?
- What outcomes matter most to children, young people and their families?
Your views and experiences are incredibly important and will directly inform the future design of the Experts at Hand model in Wakefield.
