Wakefield Inclusion and SEND Support Service
The Wakefield Inclusion Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Support Service (WISENDSS) consists of qualified, experienced teachers and support staff, who have all undertaken extensive training and gained additional qualifications in the educational needs of children with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND).
Our friendly, approachable, specialist team support at all levels to enhance professional knowledge, skills and expertise based on the national and local education needs identified by schools for children and young people aged 0-25 years.
WISENDSS Our Mission
We are ambitious for our children and young people . We want all our children and young people to thrive, to be happy, healthy and to achieve their potential in their educational setting.
- We are Inclusion/Advisory Teachers and specialist non-teaching staff
- We have experience and knowledge of SEND in mainstream and specialist education settings; we use this to support your child’s setting.
- Each setting has a named Inclusion/Advisory Teacher as their point of contact.
- Our staff work across a ‘cluster area’ of the local authority. Each teacher has a group of settings where they are the first point of contact.
- We use our experience and knowledge to help settings decide what to do now and how to support in the future .
- We help support the child or young person to take part and have their voice heard.
- We work closely with other agencies and professionals to help meet children’s needs. (EYFS, Schools and Post 16)
