Home Start Wakefield & District

We support families who have children under 12 years old.

We offer a unique Home Visiting Service. We recruit and train volunteers from diverse backgrounds to visit families in their own homes. These volunteers offer emotional and practical support tailored to individual needs.  Volunteers work restoratively with parents helping build confidence, resilience and coping skills. This aims to improve their wellbeing and family life, which in turn supports positive outcomes for their children. 

We also run family groups (Stay and Play) in Alverthorpe, Castleford, Pontefract, South Elmsall,  Eastmoor. In Sharlston we run a twins and multiples group.

We have behaviour support workers and perinatal natal mental health workers who viist the families at home to work specifically around these areas of need. 

We also have a dads family support worker running Dad Matters (prebirth to 2yrs) and Dads Count (family support for  dads of 3 - 12 yr olds).
