About

The Summer Play Scheme Groups are for children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) aged 5 to 17 years old and are organised by Wakefield Council. The summer groups will offer children and young people in Wakefield the opportunity to enjoy group activities in a supportive and safe environment. The Council has a long track record of successful schemes and received great feedback from attendees.

Transport

As in the previous few years, transport to and from a playscheme is not provided.

Activities

The Council is working with partners to deliver a range of activities by a number of different providers.
Please click on the link below to open the Word document for the provider information sheet with dates, days, times and information on the different summer playscheme group providers and activities on offer.

Email

Email the forms to SEND@wakefield.gov.uk and we will acknowledge receipt of your email.

Due to the high demand of places in previous years, we cannot guarantee that everyone who wants a place will be able to have one, therefore, applications will be allocated based on availability and on a first come, first served basis. If we cannot offer you your preferred provider we will work with you to offer an alternative if there is availability.

Successful Applications

We will be in touch via email to confirm the dates and provider that your child has been allocated.

Exclusions

If your child already receives support through Specialist Short Breaks, they will not be able to apply for a place on the summer play scheme group.
